I remember Daddy...when I hear a lullaby
When I see the Golden Statue
When a heartbreak makes me cry.
When I hear a touching opera
or I read a thrilling book,
When I wonder what a word means
and in Webster's I must look.
Thinking back upon McHenry
And the worms upon the hook,
How I long to hear his laughter
In his eyes I long to look.
Very gently he would teach me,
when I'd ask about the rain
He would hold me on his
shoulders and explain away my pain.
In the shadows of the moonlight,
Whispers softly from a dove
serenading thoughts of Daddy,
Humble memories of love.
Silent passages recalling
all the things my father said,
How he 'loved' to give me lectures
As I’d lie upon my bed.
Even though I don't have Daddy
In my heart, remains that beloved man,
Yes...I do remember Morgan
And I'm glad that he loved Ann.
